Session: Concurrent session A2: Opportunities for Extension
Our nation’s economy has shifted from agriculture and manufacturing to knowledge and innovation. Effectively educating adults and youth in a society dominated by a knowledge economy requires recognizing this trend, understanding the implications to our natural resource efforts, and thus adequately preparing people for the future.
This presentation will highlight the need to address this issue and offer resources available to Extension Educators for building strong natural resource programs that will provide a competitive advantage by incorporating knowledge and innovation into curriculum. This will result in well-educated citizens prepared for effective citizenship, as well as environmental stewardship in a knowledge economy.
